Choosing WORLDSEMI LED components starts with the circuit you are building. A decorative pixel board, a controller driving external LEDs and a compact indicator module need different purchasing information. This matrix helps a buyer narrow the discussion without treating similar model names as approved substitutes.
WORLDSEMI selection matrix: what each search actually identifies
| Search term | Initial purchasing route | Evidence needed before approval |
|---|---|---|
| WS2811 LED DRIVER IC | Separate driver component; define the external LED circuit | Full suffix, package, schematic and pin-level conditions |
| WS2812 / WS2812B | Integrated addressable RGB LED family | Exact revision, package drawing and control requirements |
| WS2813 | Integrated digital LED family with signal-bypass support | Exact variant and validation of relevant fault scenarios |
| WS2812B-2020 | Package-specific enquiry within the WS2812B range | Full suffix, footprint, orientation and assembly document |
| RGBIC LED / Addressable RGB LED | Category-level request, not a complete order code | Specify component, module or finished strip first |
The manufacturer separates digital / RGBIC LEDs from LED driver ICs. These category distinctions are useful for routing an enquiry. They do not establish a universal voltage, current, refresh rate or controller compatibility for every device in a family.
Application example: an illuminated retail shelf
Assume a designer wants a row of independently controlled colour points along a shelf. First ask whether the supplier is quoting loose LEDs, a populated PCB or a finished strip. Next establish the approved control grouping and physical spacing. A quote for 100 components and a quote for 100 metres are not comparable, even when both say WS2812.
For a custom PCB, the mechanical designer supplies the usable envelope, engineering selects the exact device, and purchasing retains that reference through sample approval. For a finished strip, purchasing also needs the assembly configuration and installation interface. The assembly supply label must not be copied into the operating specification of each IC.

Concept only: no pinout, voltage or wiring instruction implied.Turn a vague enquiry into an answerable one
| Incomplete request | Improved request |
|---|---|
| Need WS2812, 10k | Need 10,000 loose components; exact approved part and revision attached; no unapproved substitutes |
| Need WS2811 strip IC | Please quote loose driver ICs separately from the assembled strip; quantities and units listed per line |
| Need RGBIC for a new product | Selection enquiry: application, available PCB area and control requirements described; part not yet approved |
These are fictional RFQ examples, not stock or MOQ statements. If a device is undecided, say so. A supplier can then distinguish selection support from an exact-part order. Require alternatives to include the complete proposed reference and the documentation necessary for engineering review.
Sample approval checkpoints
Record the sample identity, the board revision, the test conditions and the engineer approving the result. Check mechanical fit before assembly, then validate the actual circuit and control implementation. If an order code changes between the sample and production quote, stop the purchasing handoff until the change is reviewed. A working sample does not establish production availability or qualification of another suffix.
For model-specific questions, see the WORLDSEMI buying-guide hub. Use the matrix above to choose the correct enquiry route, then supply evidence for the exact candidate.
Discuss your application through the YF-WIND enquiry form. Include the complete part number, package, quantity, destination country and the specific design question. Price, availability and delivery require a current quotation. WORLDSEMI references identify the manufacturer; this article does not claim an authorized-distributor relationship.
