At YF-WIND, we begin an RGBIC LED enquiry by asking what the customer wants to control. A strip length, an LED count and a controllable pixel count describe different things. Understanding the distinction helps a buyer request a suitable component or assembly instead of selecting from a photograph alone.
What does a pixel mean?
An addressable lighting assembly is controlled through logical positions. Depending on the actual design, a position can correspond to one emitter package or a group. Do not assume that every visible LED is independently controlled. Ask for the control grouping of the exact assembly. A component family name does not describe the complete strip configuration.
| Design question | Practical review | RFQ evidence |
|---|---|---|
| LED bead or package | Physical light-emitting component | Exact part and package drawing |
| Logical pixel | Position controlled by the implementation | Mapping from address to physical emitters |
| LED strip | Assembly including conductors and components | Assembly specification and control grouping |
| RGBIC label | Category or marketing terminology | Exact interface and controller requirements |
Example: a shelf with eight visible lighting points
If a brief requests an eight-point chase, the designer should specify whether each point needs independent control. An assembly with several emitters grouped per address may not create the intended movement. Write the requirement as an observable result: one point moves at a time, in a documented physical order. Then evaluate the proposed assembly against that result.
Logical pattern, not a wiring diagram
frame A: [RED, OFF, OFF, OFF]
frame B: [OFF, RED, OFF, OFF]
frame C: [OFF, OFF, RED, OFF]
A logical position may represent one LED or an assembly-defined group. What the label does not tell you
RGBIC alone does not confirm supply voltage, cut locations, connector pinout, environmental rating or software support. Ask for these separately. For loose components, retain the full device suffix and document revision. For strips, obtain the complete assembly reference. A familiar connector shape does not demonstrate electrical compatibility.
YF-WIND project enquiry: what to send
Send the application, item type, exact part reference if selected, quantity and unit, destination country and target delivery requirement. Include a layout sketch and identify unresolved technical questions. YF-WIND can use these details to discuss the enquiry scope; sample suitability and commercial terms require confirmation. No MOQ, stock, lead time or certification is promised by this guide.
Browse LED components or send YF-WIND a project enquiry. For model-based requirements, include the complete manufacturer reference and revision rather than only WS2812, WS2811 or WS2813.
Reference and scope
Manufacturer category reference. Brand references are informational; no customer relationship, endorsement, proprietary interface access or compatibility is claimed. Application examples are fictional design briefs, not completed YF-WIND projects.
