A customer may ask YF-WIND for an RGB strip while expecting a rainbow chase, or ask for RGBIC while only needing a single uniform colour. The useful comparison is the required behaviour, followed by the actual hardware implementation. Define the effect before asking whether a particular product category fits.
Uniform colour and moving colour are different briefs
A uniform-colour brief can describe the whole illuminated area as one colour at a time. A moving pattern needs a defined spatial relationship between commands and visible positions. Neither description alone identifies the correct voltage, component or controller. Those details come from the selected design.
| Design question | Practical review | RFQ evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Uniform scene | Define whether all areas share one state | Scene description |
| Moving chase | Define independently controlled positions | Pixel map and animation sequence |
| Mixed white and colour | Specify the actual white-light requirement | Optical acceptance criteria |
| Several separate areas | Clarify synchronized versus independent control | Zone and controller diagram |
Example: a retail counter with two lighting modes
The daytime mode might use a steady background while a demonstration mode moves a highlight around the counter. The designer should state the required transition and zone boundaries. Record a short sequence showing which section changes first. This is more precise than asking for many effects or a premium chip.
An effect specification template
AREA: front counter
MODE 1: uniform background
MODE 2: moving highlight across named zones
STARTUP: approved default scene
FAILURE / DISCONNECT: behaviour defined by engineering
HARDWARE: not selected until requirements are reviewedCompare complete proposals
A component-only quote and a ready-to-install strip quote are different scopes. Compare item type, controller, power arrangement, mounting and documentation before comparing cost. Cutting, extension and outdoor suitability must follow the exact assembly instructions; do not transfer instructions from another product.
YF-WIND project enquiry: what to send
Send the application, item type, exact part reference if selected, quantity and unit, destination country and target delivery requirement. Include a layout sketch and identify unresolved technical questions. YF-WIND can use these details to discuss the enquiry scope; sample suitability and commercial terms require confirmation. No MOQ, stock, lead time or certification is promised by this guide.
Browse LED components or send YF-WIND a project enquiry. For model-based requirements, include the complete manufacturer reference and revision rather than only WS2812, WS2811 or WS2813.
