An animated sign needs a legible layout as well as colourful light. YF-WIND starts a signage enquiry with the letter geometry, viewing conditions and the role of animation. A moving effect should be evaluated on the actual sign rather than approved from a loose strip on a bench.
Name the visual zones
Decide whether the sign behaves as one continuous route or as separately controlled letters. Document the order in which a highlight should move. The physical cable route and the desired visual order may differ, so the controller implementation needs an explicit mapping.
| Requirement | What to compare | Acceptance evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Letter boundary | Continuous effect or independent letter | Annotated layout |
| Stroke appearance | Hotspots, joints and dark areas | Prototype review |
| Viewing conditions | Distance and nearby illumination | Agreed observation positions |
| Service access | Replaceable sections and identification | Assembly drawing |
A fictional reception sign
Imagine a five-letter reception sign that uses a steady scene during business hours and a slow highlight after hours. Test whether the highlight follows the intended reading order and whether every letter remains readable. Evaluate transitions across letter boundaries before approving the animation.
Project worksheet example
VISUAL ORDER: L1 -> L2 -> L3 -> L4 -> L5
PHYSICAL ROUTE: documented separately
DAY SCENE: readability acceptance
EVENING SCENE: movement acceptance
Mapping must connect the two orders.Prepare evidence for a quotation
Send the customer-owned sign drawing, desired appearance, installation context and quantity. Identify which requirements remain open. If the sign will be used outdoors, obtain the appropriate evidence for the complete assembly rather than inferring suitability from the light-emitting component.
Prepare a specific YF-WIND enquiry
Send the item type, full component or assembly reference if selected, quantity and unit, destination country and target delivery requirement. Include the relevant customer-owned drawing and describe which questions still need engineering input. Distinguish an evaluation candidate from an approved production item; identify whether alternatives may be proposed for review.
